Fishing In Punta Palmera

Shore line fishing:

Unit A23 is located on a point that abuts the ocean. There is a channel that runs in front of the unit and rip-rap walls behind it. This is an area that game fish come to feed.

Top water suggestions:

The channel, located roughly 50 yards from your front door, is amazingly calm. Head out at dawn and work it with jointed Rapalas and Yuzuri minnows. While there is no formal catch and release directive, its understood to be somewhat of an unwritten rule here – tread lightly; the fish gods will reward you with a tarpon or snook of the ages (at least by US standards).

Chunk and chucker’s:

The rip-rap point drops off quickly to deep water. The rocks, that form these barriers, have play and can move when stepped on – head out at your own risk! Various types of snappers, bonefish, permit and grouper can be caught off the point. We suggest 2oz bottom rigs with cut squid or strip bait, it will catch the tastiest of the bunch (snapper and grouper).

Beach Guys:

The rip-rap and tides create a buffet for predators. Barracuda and other predatory fish get fat off the fingerlings and crustaceans that inhabit the rocks along the inner bend of the point. The churn created by the Incoming tide coupled with an east wind make for very favorable conditions!
